Hello,
I have been dieting and exercising for a few months now. I am seriously obese. I haven't been this way my whole life...just the past 7 years or so. I guess I realized that I should have never let myself go this long also after the car accident I had a hard time trying to get active which this type of lifestyle made me lazy and unactive. Then after I had my three children...(right in a row in 3 years, which I do not recommend) I started to get this really ugly bulge in my abdomen that was never there before, I decided that it was time to get healthy for my kids sake as well as my own. I am only 30 and I want to be around for my children and the rate I'm going I won't be. I can stand to lose around 85 to 90 more pounds. I am setting mini goals for myself. With diet and exercise the weight is slowly coming off. I've lost 12 pounds so far!!! Yeah!
My problem now is:
Partly due to my car accident and mostly because of being overweight, I am now having more problems with walking and few other exercising. My left knee is really hurting. It's not really in my right knee because I think it is used to the weight it had to carry for a few years before I had my left hip surgery. I had to baby the left side because when I used it, my left hip would often go out of place. Since the surgery it hasn't happened. Anyway, I think this strain it making my knee hurt. I've tried to use a knee brace, but it doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do. It is to the point that I am limping when I walk now. My husband says I should refrain from walking for a little while. But I don't want to because I am on a roll.
It makes me mad because before I got pregnant with the children I used to jog with out problems with my knee and because of the little extra weight I gained from having them...it's putting a little added stress on it.
Does anyone know of any strength training for knees or something? Thank you for your time and I hope to hear a response soon.
Tracy
